Building A New Home – Interior Components – Part 4

Image

Lighting & Electrical Work – The once time-honored practice of installing one center light in the ceiling has been replaced with more sophisticated lighting techniques. Spot lighting or under cabinet florescent task lighting in the kitchen are examples of how lighting needs are now being met inside the home. Visit a lighting showroom to educate yourself and discuss lighting options for your new home with a lighting professional. Beyond what you like and can afford, consider usage of the space to be lit, energy efficient options and the placement of switches, outlets and fixture boxes. Remember, lighting fixtures, specifically ceiling fans, have numerous moving parts and long term usage should be a consideration. Make sure your lighting allowance is sufficient.
