Well, it’s happening already. The January thaw and cold temperatures at night cause thawing and freezing. Those beautiful icicles hanging from your roof eaves are the beginning of a possible ice dam which could cause major damage to your home if not handled properly. Here’s a link to an article from the University of Minnesota Extension that describes what an ice dam is and how they can be prevented.
