Brick Patio Maintenance

Subscribe to the Home Remodeler Blog for home remodeling and maintenance tips.

Although they’re considered “maintenance free,” here’s an easy maintenance step you can take to prolong the life and looks of your brick patio. Since mortar is not used to set the clay pavers, the sand between the bricks settles with time. Once a year, spread some silica sand generously over the top of the patio. Then simply sweep with a brush broom to fill in the space between the bricks. This is an easy way to keep your brick patio clean and looking as new as the day it was installed!

If you’ve been thinking about a new patio and want an alternative to brick pavers, follow the professionals from Chris Foss Contractor as they show the design, pouring and stamping of a beautiful Ashlar Slate concrete patio in this segment from the Today’s Home Remodeler TV series.
