Thinking Of Remodeling Your Kitchen? Part 1

Subscribe to the Remodeler TV Blog for home remodeling and maintenance tips.

The kitchen is the main gathering place for many families and often when entertaining, the party winds up in the kitchen. Here are some things to consider when thinking about a new kitchen:

There are 3 elements to a kitchen remodeling project: Preparation, Design and Installation. First, visualize your dream kitchen. What do you like and dislike about your current kitchen? How do you want to use the room? Attending a Home Products or Remodeling Show can give you ideas. Obviously, it’s important to know your budget. Take lots of notes.

If you’re thinking of using a Professional Kitchen Designer, talk to more than one. You’re still in the learning process and different perspectives can be helpful. Bring your notes, ask lots of questions and try to be as specific as possible about what you want. Make sure you’re comfortable with the designer you choose. Good design services are worth the cost. If a retailer tells you that their design service is free, know that the cost is built-in to the price of the cabinets, etc.

It’s always a good idea to see and touch the products you select for your new kitchen. This means going to the showrooms and asking questions about levels of quality, design flexibility, durability and warranties. Talk to the professionals to make sure you understand what you’re buying. You should visit showrooms for Kitchen Cabinets and Counter Tops; Appliances and Kitchen Ventilation; Plumbing Fixtures; Flooring and Tile and Lighting.

Today’s segment from the Today’s Home Remodeler TV series features Cardinal Capital Management and Alpine Plumbing on a kitchen and bath remodeling project at Riverview Heights in Janesville WI.
