Monthly Home Maintenance Tips For January

Here are your Monthly Home Maintenance Tips For January:

General walk through: Check for heat loss, weatherstripping, loose or open storm windows or doors.

Check window function and locking mechanisms. Lubricate locks with WD-40 if sticky.

Change/clean air filter in furnace. Check temperature and pressure gauges if you have an older system with a boiler.

Check/add salt to water softener.

Check roof along eaves and gutters during melts for ice build-up. Maintain proper drainage during melts.

Check smoke and fire alarms and replace batteries. Check fire extinguishers.

Plan/work on interior projects: painting, wallpaper, decorating, etc. Remove and pack holiday decorations.

It’s important to replace your furnace filter regularly during the winter months to maintain indoor air quality. In today’s short video from the Carrier Consumer Education Series, host Stuart Keith and HVAC specialist Larry Hacker discuss what to consider when selecting air filtration for your home.
