Monthly Home Maintenance Tips For June

General walk through – check exterior gardens, downspouts and extensions, foundation landscaping.

Check/add salt to water softener. Check smoke and fire alarms.

Change air filter, close dampers on lower returns if using central air.

Check basement for dryness; run dehumidifier and check sump hole and pump, if applicable.

Apply water treatment to treated exterior wood such as decks, railings and porches. Prime and paint any exposed bare wood where paint has peeled.

Inspect roof, check attic for moisture stains and damaged insulation and make sure good ventilation is maintained.

Check flashing around chimney and caulk or apply roofing cement where necessary.

Apply lawn treatment and fertilizer. Core aerate your lawn if excessive thatch exists.
